Raging Bull Texas Stampede VIII, January 14-16, 2011

Q: What was your favorite moment during the Stampede?

"Any of the long, winding roads you had us run. Loved the ones that were 15, 20 miles long with great sweepers. Could really build up some speed and get in the groove."

"My favorite moment during the Stampede was Jeff telling the friendly DPS officer that we were "waiving" at people as if that would void the fact we were doing (censored)!"

"Every time I pressed down on the gas with my right foot. Also when I was about to pass the 911 Turbo but ran out of room."

"I can't pick a favorite moment - great roads, great drives, great fun, great camaraderie, great food and even nice cops!! (no tickets) Great job, Tourmaster!!"

"Sunday a.m. Driving conditions improved throughout the morning. Not the last county road before lunch, but the section prior to that. Excellent driving. The complete group of vehicles moved as one."

"The tight BOAR Run and the last day..."

"Really my favorite was not a moment but a facet of the entire drive. I enjoyed and appreciated learning about what was manageable speed and driving style in wet conditions. I was pleased to do so without leaving the road or even really coming close to that. This was new for me."

"First off lets make it plural and say moments . Driving the scenic roads around Austin and going up on top of the lookout over Lake Travis . All of the great restaurants we experienced . The nights conversing with other drivers about their personal experiences on this trip and past trips."

"Seeing intense satisfaction in captivation of driving the road from oneself and the fellow Bull Riders."

"145 mph... don't remember which day, which road, etc., but 145 feels really nice."

"Sorry, Tourmaster, I just can't pick one. The entire weekend was wonderful. The best moments were:

  • laughing and BSing with new friends during the breaks
  • realizing that you can drive aggressively in the rain
  • the cooperative competition - everyone pushing each other and supporting each other - no attitudes, just good friendly competition
  • seeing both sides of the black Z06 on Double Diamond (LCR) as he fought for control on the slick road behind me
  • watching the M5 and 911 absolutely rocket away from a stop after letting the Tourmaster get ahead
  • the run into Bxxx - incredible roads - thank you for sharing!
  • watching the long line of cars in front and behind me - something the Tourmaster will never get to see - especially when I ran at the very back - the line is a majestic sight."
"Sunday AM run."

"Having a great time with all new faces. Learning new tips to become a better driver."

"Getting to see friends from prior trips."

"Listening to Ken's story of his Oregon experience."

"Favorite moments during the Stampede were when we came together for lunch and at the end of the day for dinner and shared our different background information and how we came to be a part of the Stampede."

"The gatherings with other nuts like me."

"Autobahn sections and wide open sweepers and fun speeds."

"The camaraderie and diversity amongst RBTS Bull Riders is my favorite weekend long moment. We were all from different walks of life and each drove a unique vehicle, but joined by a true passion for driving. The single one favorite/scary moment has to be going airborne. I wasn't in the air much, but it did scare the life out of me. I replayed the video, and it really doesn't look bad. Luckily no suspension damage, only a very uniquely happy scar embedded on my memory."

"There are so many. Looking back, I enjoyed our law enforcement experience. It made for a great story. That road was phenomenal. That being said, my most vibrant memories are chatting with the group at various stops and at night."

"My favorite moment was probably the run near Exxx. The hills cresting beneath the fog were breathtaking."

"Riding in the Porsche 911 twin turbo on the Double Diamond (LCR) runs."

"I liked the Friday afternoon riding with Bill and Kathy. I also enjoyed talking with others in the Stampede meeting new people."

"I think my favorite moment was listening to the stories of the LEO encounter by the first few cars."

"Enjoyed so many aspects of the Raging Bull Texas Stampede. The level of attention to detail is incredible! Made the trip safer and more enjoyable. The moment I enjoyed very much was the bonding process when the State Trooper pulled a bunch of us over. Well done all!!"

"My favorite moment was the Friday afternoon excursion to a picture perfect view. My favorite scary moment(s) were watching the bumble bee oversteer and understeer the turns while driving about two feet behind us (and subsequently behind the Viper.)"

"Driving TEXAS'S GREEN HELL both ways."

"The last section east and south of Fxxx."

"Dinner at Rathskellers, the place, the food and the great conversation. The stories and camaraderie of kindred spirits."

Q: If you could briefly describe your Stampede experience to a friend, what would you say?

"A great event with something for everyone. Great roads, great cars, great drivers, great people, great itinerary. Perfectly organized by the ultimate tourmaster, the event runs without a hitch, allowing drivers to concentrate on their cars and their driving. Three days of pure driving fun."

"Truly disciplined, highly-organized chaos! Some of the most scenic, although blurry, roads in Texas. A true test of one's limits and discipline on the road."

"Fast cars + passionate drivers + challenging roads + great food = Raging Bull Texas Stampede"

"The best driving weekend ever. The Tourmaster put together one of the finest driving events ever. We had twenty seven cars this year and some of the best drivers/navigators ever. This is the sixth one for me and they just keep getting better and this one was in the rain! I covered 960 miles including my travel to and from Austin (the starting point). We did a 63 mile BOAR Run (Best Of Austin Roads) on Friday after a great lunch. Then a fine dinner that evening. After the Drivers Meeting at 7:30 Saturday, we hit the road in the rain. Ran all day, had some great meals, then stayed at XXXX. A fire outside and lots of good conversation. Sunday, The Tourmaster set up an early morning run before breakfast (I slept in) and then we had another Drivers Meeting at 8:30 and hit the road again. Speeds today were quite a bit more than yesterday. We ended in Bxxxx for lunch at a real nice place and then the dreaded 3 hour trip home at legal speeds (the hardest part). As I said, The Tourmaster did a tremendous job of logging all the roads, making up all the maps, and setting up the lodging and all the rest that goes into putting on the best driving event in the USA. I want to thank him and all the drivers for making this the best, funnest, and SAFEST event ever!"

"We had a blast!!"

"Without question, the camaraderie of the drivers, and the dinners and stories that followed."

"Just a good, organized, classy drive."

"The Stampede is terrific because it is a highly organized group drive on scenic and curvy roads with plenty of room in the group for a variety of cars and drivers to take the road at a pace that is safe but fun for each of them. If you like spirited driving, this is an event you will enjoy."

"This was my third trip riding the Raging Bull and I look forward to the next . The diversity of the cars and the people really makes this event great."

"To stretch the throttle, torque and suspension; to feel the muscle and dexterity of one's car."

"This is THE BEST time you will ever have driving on public roads. Well, maybe unless you live in Germany."

"Driving for the sake of driving with a group of friendly people in diverse cars on the best roads in Texas was the most amazing experience I have ever had on four wheels."

"So much fun didn't mind the continuous rain all weekend."

"Hadn't had this much fun in a long time. I truly disconnected from the rest of the world this weekend."

"Absolutely a great experience!"

"It is a great weekend of spirited driving on fun roads with great camaraderie."

"The word "stampede" paints a picture of fast and reckless but the experience is all about safety and respect for the other drivers while driving with STYLE."

"Very well organized ride through many fun roads."

"Great times with great people that have the same passion."

"This is what I emailed a few friends....

Cesar and I had a truly wicked weekend through the Texas Hill Country. Forget drag racing, SCCA, and HPDE events, this 1,100 mile trip was like no other. The event was well prepared and included the best Texas country roads and planned fuel/food stops. It was a cold and drizzly weekend, but that did not hold us back. I never thought I could/would ever drive my car that hard, especially in the rain. As the miles grew, so did my confidence on my Viper's new suspension and tire setup (and lack of stability control.) Needless to say, the self-assurance on my driving skills on unknown "wet" territory grew exponentially. Towards the end of the drive, we were driving quite fast and aggressively. At one point, I actually managed to overheat the "turkey-plate-sized" brakes on the Viper. As you may know, that takes very hard and successive speed scrubbing. They didn't fade, but they surely smoked, even on that 45ºF wet day. In short, I beat the living snot of that Viper, and it took it like a champ!!!"

"The RBTS is an event that allows me to safely enjoy driving my car to my personal limits with a large group of like-minded enthusiasts. It really reinvigorates my love of automobiles every year."

"The diversity in cars and people is the true draw of an event like this. The Tourmaster’s careful attention ensures a pleasurable experience for all!"

"The Stampede is a bunch of guys and girls getting together hanging out and driving. It is one of the safest and well organized events."

"This was a great weekend of excitement, a little terror, and wonderful camaraderie. The roads were wonderful, and the organization and attention to safety were superb."

"This is my first Stampede. I hope I will be invited again. Thank you, Tourmaster. And thank you Geoff for thinking of me and driving with me. So much driving talent and joy is a rare thing to behold!"

"RBTS delivers excitement to a young/young-at-heart group of drivers who work as a team to safely guarantee everyone a wonderful experience."

"Rumbling, tumbling and challenging stampede that gathered enough momentum to sustain energy and adrenaline throughout the days of rainy conditions."

"The Raging Bull Texas Stampede is my one chance each year to really LIVE. I feel alive and vibrant, young and strong."

Raging Bull Texas Stampede VII, January 14-17, 2010

Q: What was your favorite moment during the Stampede?

"There are too many to list just one. Each segment had it's own special quality. I really enjoyed Sunday morning where we drove along the windy 4-lane road and the narrower, more challenging road on the way to Bandera. All segments were exceptional though. You set the bar so high! It was amazing. THANK YOU!"

"Driving. Every moment."

"My favorite moment was on Sunday doing the fantastic FM 3XY."

"Twisted sisters!"

"Getting stopped by the Border Patrol. The food and cars."

"Getting to see other people and driving the open Texas roads."

"Talking with old friends from past Stampedes and the wide open roads in the beautiful Texas hill country."

"My favorite moments are the camaraderie among the people. I also love seeing all the cars driving around long curves. It looks awesome to see all that beautiful metal with courteous and fun loving people inside taking care of each other."

"The (pre-sunrise) morning run on Saturday. I think that a lot of people missed out!"

"Was speeding by the Border Patrol and they didn't have a care in the world...if only cops were like that."

"I usually cannot get enough of the Twisted Sisters, but this year I really liked WXYZ out of Del Rio and 1WX/1YZ. It had a good mix of low and high speed sections and for any people would might doubt their car or abilities you didn't have to worry about falling off a cliff for misjudging a corner. I was disappointed in the weather because I look forward to the social gatherings at the end of a day of great driving. The Leakey cabins are a good example where you can hang out by the fire and swap stories until bed time. Still it was a success in my book. I do like track days too, but taking a 4 day weekend is tough to get due to work and the family."

"Sunday morning, 4-lane highway allowing side-by-side driving and passing, coming down out of the mountains at breathtaking speeds."

"Sunday Morning - Drive between I don't know what two towns...but the one after we stopped for gas and you went on ahead....I think it was on XY which you said was one of your favorite drives....beautiful scenery, long sweepers, fun speeds....excellent time."

"There were several , the food choices , the back roads , but my favorite was the Harris Hill Rd Track ."

"Driving phases - The Three Sisters and WXYZ ? (three runs) near Del Rio. Also the fellowship and friendship of the other drivers."

"My favorite moment happened somewhere between the initial measuring of our tire tread and the final lunch together. It's all still a blur of highlights."

"My favorite moments were at the BBQ lunch. It was so satisfying to be among great friends, relaxing, reminiscing, congratulating, hugging, feeling sad at saying good bye, looking forward to the next time we should meet to complete yet another act of bonding and testing oneself in an activity/passion we all share. The automotive challenge called the Raging Bull Texas Stampede."

"My favorite drive for this rally was the Sunday morning "Drug Run" out of Del Rio. The straightaways were phenomenal and gave us the opportunity to push our cars on top speed. It was awesome! the next favorite was the twisted sister drive."

"The Triple Road. Once, then back, then once again. That road made the M5 almost run out of gas on the way home."

"Driving in the rain at a new track was fun. It was a totally different experience than any other track I have driven."

"Being together with past Stampede friends."

"Hwy 1XX TWICE!"

"Visiting the Mexico border."

Q: If you could briefly describe your Stampede experience to a friend, what would you say?

"The last Stampede was an amazing event, and it's one that look forward to sharing with my father every year. I really enjoy seeing different corners of Texas with a group of people who share one of my passions. I also enjoy the rare opportunity to explore the limits of my car in a safe and responsible manner."

"The RBTS takes the inherently dangerous hobby of driving sports cars and then takes almost every precaution in order to create an amazingly safe event. No where else can you drive your sports car in the way it was designed for so many miles with such great people."

"This event is the most fun you can have in a car. Well, the front seat at least..."

"Most fun on four wheels you can have, with a great group of people."

"Great to have a relaxing drive through the hill country."

"Exhilarating experience!"

"The most fun I have had with my sports car. Visiting with friends and driving on the most amazing wide open roads in the beautiful Texas hill country."

"YEEHAW!! WE HAVE TAMED THE BULL!"

"It was a great time. The roads were fun, the cars were beautiful, and the people were great. You should start brown-nosing now if you'd like to come next year."

"A fast paced safe driving event that will take you and your sports car or whatever you drive to the limit!"

"Getting together with good people from across Texas who love using sports cars as they were intended. Great way to meet like minded people and experience parts of Texas that few people get to."

"The best Stampede yet, and that's saying something. Lots of 4-lane roads allowing for side-by-side driving, passing and "flying". Hopefully there will be as many next year, because you don't often find yourself out in the middle of nowhere with nothing to worry about except your driving."

"As safe & fun a time as you can have challenging yourself and your car on the best Texas roads in the midst of some of the best car-enthursiasts around..."

"I really like the diversity of the cars that participants drive."

"Driving experience that develops a better understanding of the capabilities of your vehicle. Development of a relationship with the other drivers."

"It's an exhilarating weekend of fun, friendship, great scenery, and the ability to test and finely polish your driving skills in varying road conditions."

"Humans have basic needs for excitement, adventure, friendship, challenge, sense of belonging, personal growth, teamwork, helping others, and love. I would suggest participation in the Stampede satisfies all these and so much more. Do yourself a favor and make plans now to attend."

"Great driving + great people = Great times!"

"The best driving experience ever...hands down. The real Stig would be jealous!"

"The participants were friendly, experienced, and safe drivers. The destinations were interesting and fun."

"We were driving the roads like a road runner would. We were fast, smooth, and safe! We saw no end to the Bull and we kept going. But our tiredness eventually overcame and we had to eventually stop. It was a unbelievable event. Out of all my years of doing the RB Stampede since it started and only missing one year, this was by far the best group, best event I have ever been too. Look forward too next year!"

"The fastest, funnest, and safest three days on the road anywhere!"

"It's wild and you visit a lot of fun cool places.

Raging Bull Texas Stampede VI, January 16-18, 2009

"Safest organized drive this side of the Mississippi. Ok, maybe I haven't done a lot of drives, but I can't imagine a safer one than this."

"Great test of the cars brakes and suspension!"

"Every serious driving enthusiast should experience at least one Stampede. You will not be disappointed."

"The Raging Bull is the experience of taking the bull by the horns."

"The roads were amazing - great driving and beautiful scenery. The overnights were packed with unique things to do. The people were great - we made a lot of new friends and also saw some old ones from past drives."

"The best organized, best tasting, friendliest, funnest, fastest, and safest driving event in Texas!
Good friends, good food, fast cars, no place but Texas!"

"The most fun you can have with your clothes on. Consistenly one of the very best road trips organized by anyone anywhere. More driving than most people can stand, with fun people, great food and outstanding roads. A don't-miss event on any driving enthusiast's calendar."

"Thanks again for a fantastic weekend! I am thankful that someone like you takes the time to plan and coordinate a driving event like this one. I am thankful for the opportunity to explore the limits of my vehicle as it was designed with such a great group of people. Thanks again!"

"A lightining fast trip through central Texas."

"The Raging Bull is for driving enthusiasts who want to drive their cars the way they were engineered to be driven...with speed, agility, and passion. The longer you ride the bull, the more you enjoy the ride."

"Best experience i had driving my car, even better then a race circuit"

"The Raging Bull was great! I have always enjoyed driving my car, this gave me the oppurtunity to drive like I have never driven before and as an added plus I got to interact with some of the nicest people you could meet."

"Great event and great roads. There's nothing out there quite like the Stampede."

"The Stampede is a rare and golden opportunity to spend a long weekend in the company of wonderful people who share the love of spirited driving and exploring the beautiful countryside and roads around us that would otherwise remain undiscovered."

"no egos - thrilling - great camaraderie"

"Very well ran, great time, lots of sharp twisty roads."

"Well planned. Excellent experience."

"One of the most controlled, fast pace, RB Stampedes I have ever been on. And some of the best cars as well!"

Raging Bull Texas Stampede V, January 25-27, 2008

"A nice country drive in the Texas Hill Country on steroids."

"A three-day, fast-paced hill country back roads tour. Begin with driver training & track time, end with sunset @ The Oasis/Austin. Very well planned, hits all the best scenic roads in Texas with good company, food & stopovers. A yearly tradition, my first, going again."

"Most fun I have had driving my car. Unbelievable that it was organized by one person. I would definitely recommend it to any driving/car enthusiast."

"The Stampede is, by far, the best street driving experience you will find. Where else can you find a full weekend of great conversation, good food, and driving the best back-country roads in Texas? I doubt you can."

"One of the best driving trips of the year. Compares favorably to longer, much more expensive trips. We'll be there every year. The Tourmaster does an outstanding job of organizing a first-class event."

"I had a great time. Can't wait for next year!"

"If you want to drive your car the way it was meant to be driven. if you want to meet new and great friends. if you want to get away from your average weekend routine, the Raging Bull Texas Stampede is where you belong."

"Not your relaxed scenic cruise, instead it was intense, tiring, fun, and satisfiying. Just what the Doctor ordered!"

"The Stampede is a driving/social experience where all the hard work of planning, coordinating, scheduling, and worrying is all done for you by the Tourmaster. Just show up ready to enjoy the fun, fellowship, adventure, scenery, and the pure excitement which can come while driving your automobile to the best of your ability and/or to its capability, if you have such skills."

"The RBTS is fantastic fun and I really enjoyed meeting other driving enthusiasts across Texas."

"It's great and I hope you keep having it."

"Great time, best and safest run ever."

"Another Raging Bull Texas Stampede has come and gone. And what a Stampede it was! 697 miles of the best roads in Texas. Running on a brand new race track in the POURING RAIN! Eating at some of the best places in Texas with some of the best people in Texas. Driving our ASSES OFF for 700 miles was wonderful. The Tourmaster put together the best driving event ever, he deserves all the credit for making this what it is. He will remember this for a while also! (wink, wink)"

"The Stampede was exciting, challenging and had something for everyone. A great ride for all those who cherish the fusion of man and machine on the road."

"High speed, twisty fun."

"Incredible. I had no idea my car had this in it!"

"I have been on quite a few runs with fellow vette owners and they have always been a blast, but this was the best run, SAFEST ran run period that I have ever been on. No one had any idea where we would be until right before each run when new maps were given out. Maps were detailed as to where bumps, pot holes etc and other hazards were. The Tourmaster is a SUPER STAR."

"Fast cars, Good friends, Good food, NO PLACE BUT TEXAS!"

"You have never been on a cruise that is so organized as the Raging Bull Texas Stampede and have as much fun. This is one of the best put together cruises you can go on in the country!"

Raging Bull Texas Stampede IV, January 27-28, 2007

"This Stampede was one of the best weekends I've had. It was just a great mix of fun, driving, food, and friendship. It was really neat to see a bunch of strangers get along so well because they share the same passion for their cars and driving them the way they were meant to be driven."

"Good cars, great roads, fantastic people."

"Amazing event. I've never had a driving experience like it. I don't think I could have imagined having better roads planned out for us. I also thoroughly enjoyed making new friends...some that I'm sure we'll keep in touch with for years."

"Surprisingly fast paced, and well worth the extra mileage on the car. I plan on attending next year's challenge."

"Best tour I have ever been on. Fast roads, great people."

"AWESOME!!"

"We had a fantastic time!...

The roads you found were amazing - such a variety of conditions. It certainly did not feel like we were driving for very long. We both had a really good time enjoying the roads and the countryside. I also really enjoyed Motorsport Ranch. Being a relative rookie I got something out of the instruction and the chance to really practice some technique on the track. The restaurant selection was also great - lots of local character and good food.

I can't really thank you enough for all the work that you do to organize these events. I thought the group this time was really good - everyone out to have some fun but not get crazy. Once again thank you so much - it is events like this that really make it enjoyable to own a sports car - thanks!"

"No pressure, but fun and fast driving with a nice group. Just right."

"Experience the fun of driving your car on the hidden roads of Texas with new friends in a well organized event."

"A nearly perfect blend of driving at speed and meeting new people. A dream trip for sociable types who love to drive (fast)."

"Extremely well organized and run event with every attempt to make it as safe as possible... The roads were great with a lot of detail in the maps to make it as safe as possible. The scenery was also amazing and very enjoyable. It's great that isolated roads like that still exist. Thanks for the amazing amount of work to find these special roads and organize a great trip. We had a great time!"

"It was my first event of this type. I couldn't ask for anything more."

"(My wife) and I had a GREAT time on the RBTS. We agreed that it was one of the best, if not THE best, driving tour we've ever been on."

"Good friends, good food, driving excitement, what more can you ask of a weekend?"

Prior Stampedes

"...best driving experience I've had, hands down."

"I don't think I've ever had so much fun driving on open roads as I did that day."

"There's no question I'll be back any time the stampede banner is posted."

"Great ride...I really enjoyed it...I have not driven like that in a few years and that was on a track...this was great fun..."

"It is something that I will remember for the rest of my life."

"I apologize that I have not taken the opportunity before this to express my extreme gratitude to you for putting all of this together - your efforts are sincerely appreciated!"

"I can't wait for the next one."
